Advertising for Mattresses and Sleep Systems
They take a long time to choose, and part of what is sold is returned.
When the ads are set up properly, the account stops chasing the first click and guides the person through the whole buying period — from the first comparison to the order after the showroom trial. Returned orders are removed from the report and exchanged ones are adjusted, so the platform does not learn from sales that did not stay. I call this approach “the order that stays”.
Request a quoteWhy standard advertising fails with mattresses
A mattress is chosen over a long time, tried in person and returned more often than almost anything else in the home.
01
Reporting is shorter than the decision
A person sees the ad, goes round the shops, asks family and comes back much later. By then the click is already outside the window from which the platform learns. The account sees spend with no result and cuts exactly what works.
02
The in-person trial counts nowhere
A large part of orders are decided after lying down on the mattress. The visit to the showroom is not fed back into the ad account and campaigns that work look like pure cost. The budget goes where a purchase is visible, not where the decision is made.
03
What is returned stays as a sale
Swapping to a different firmness or returning a mattress after the trial period never reaches the platform. It keeps optimising for orders that changed or dropped out after the trial. The report shows revenue that did not stay with you.
The mechanism
The order that stays
I do not count everything the platform calls a sale. I count what has not come back after the trial, and I build the account on that.
- The decision is split into stepsChoosing a mattress is not a single action. Comparing models, size, firmness, an enquiry, a visit, an order. Each step is measured separately, so that you can see where the person stops, instead of guessing from the final number.
- The showroom enters the accountBooked trial appointments and orders entered by a salesperson are fed back to the campaign that brought the person in. This way a campaign without an online order is not switched off if it fills the shop.
- Returns are deducted, exchanges are adjustedAfter the trial period the order is confirmed or dropped. The dropped ones are sent back to the platform, so that it does not learn from them and does not look for more of the same buyers.
- Remarketing follows the choosing periodInstead of one banner that runs until people are sick of it, the person sees a different message depending on how far they have got: the difference between the models, firmness by sleeping style, trial and delivery terms.

The first step
Audit within 7 working days
First I review the account, the product feed, the website and the tracking. Where data is being lost and where money is being lost.
- You receive a PDF and an online meetingThe findings and recommendations presented in person, not an automatic report from a tool.
- Conclusions in days, not monthsThe findings are ready within the audit period, not after a quarter.
- The value is deducted in fullIf the work continues, the full value of the audit is deducted from the contract price, with a minimum term of three months. This applies if the contract is signed within 30 days of the audit.
- All I ask of you is read accessThe ad accounts and the website remain yours. Nothing changes without your decision.
Which channel for what
| Meta | It brings the new demand and stays in front of the person while they are choosing. This is where the comparison between models, the explanation of firmness and the invitation to try in person come in. |
|---|---|
| It catches the moment when it is already clear what is being searched for — a model, a size, a brand. Search and Shopping work on product queries, not on general ones. | |
| Remarketing | Split by the step the person reached and by time since the last visit. Viewed a model, abandoned a cart, visited the store — these are separate lists, not one general one. |
When I am not the right choice
- If stock is unstable and the leading models run out in the middle of a campaign, the advertising only piles up enquiries that you cannot fulfil.
- If the only argument is a discount, the account will bring orders until someone drops the price below yours. This is not solved with advertising.
- If showroom orders are recorded nowhere and cannot be linked to the advertising, part of the result stays invisible and the work starts blind.
I work personally on every account. This limits the number of clients I take on at the same time, and it is the reason this list exists.
